How to Change the Windows 11 Start Button/Menu from Centre to Left

Windows 11 introduced a fresh new look, with the Start button and menu centred on the taskbar. However, many users prefer the traditional left-aligned Start menu reminiscent of previous Windows versions. This guide will walk you through the steps to shift the Start button/menu back to the left side of your screen.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Open Settings

To begin, you need to access the Settings app. You can do this by right-clicking the Start button and selecting Settings, or by pressing Windows + I on your keyboard.

Step 2: Navigate to Personalisation

In the Settings window, look for the Personalisation option in the left sidebar and click on it.

Step 3: Access Taskbar Settings

Within the Personalisation section, scroll down and find Taskbar. Click on it to open the taskbar settings.

Step 4: Change Taskbar Alignment

In the Taskbar settings, you will see an option labelled Taskbar behaviours. Click on it to expand the options.

Step 5: Set Start Button Alignment

Look for the Taskbar alignment dropdown menu. By default, it is set to Centre. Click on it and select Left from the options.

Step 6: Check the Changes

After selecting Left, you will notice the Start button immediately moves to the left side of the taskbar. You can now close the Settings window.

Conclusion

Congratulations! You have successfully changed the Windows 11 Start button/menu from the centre to the left side of your screen. This simple adjustment can help you feel more at home if you're used to the traditional Windows layout. If you ever want to switch back, just follow the same steps and choose Centre in the Taskbar alignment settings.
